CAMBODIA TRAVEL GUIDE
Plan your trip to Cambodia
Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia. It has a dark and interesting past. It is less developed than other countries in the area, such as Thailand. Other than Angkor, Cambodia doesn’t really get much attention from tourists. I only spent two weeks in the country and I visited the most touristic places. However, if you are planning a longer trip, I recommend traveling to less explored places if you want a more authentic experience.
The Temples of Angkor are the most popular places in Cambodia. Angkor is simply a magical place that I recommend visiting at least once in your life. Cambodia also has many other places to visit, such as Phnom Penh, where you can learn more about the history of the country, or the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem, where you will find incredible white-sand beaches with crystal clear water.

PLACES TO VISIT IN CAMBODIA
Tips for every destination
As I mentioned before, the Temples of Angkor are incredible and you should definitely visit some of them during your trip to Cambodia. You must first travel to Siemp Reap in order to visit the temples. Angkor is the major reason why tourists visit Cambodia. Some travelers even decide to only visit Angkor during their trip to Cambodia. However, I recommend visiting other places in the country.
You must make a quick stop in the country’s capital, Phnom Penh. In Phnom Penh you will be able to learn about the hard history of the country but you will also be able to enjoy the nightlife and leisure.
From Sihanoukville, you can visit the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem. These islands are ideal for those seeking beaches. You should travel to these islands if you feel like enjoying a good dose of sand and sea.
Other places to visit in Cambodia are Kampot, Battambang, Kratie, Koh Ker, Banlung, Kep or Pailin.
In Phnom Penh, you can visit some of the most important museums in the country, where you can learn about the country’s history and the Cambodian genocide. The genocide took place at the end of the 20th century. Don’t forget to visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the National Museum of Cambodia. The Phnom Penh Royal Palace is another interesting place worth visiting.
SIEM REAP (ANGKOR)
You have to travel to Siem Reap if you are going to visit the incredible Temples of Angkor. It was once the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire. Some of the main temples that must visit are Angkor Wat, Bayon, Banteay Srei, Phnom Bakheng, Ta Prohm, Banteay Kdei and Ta Keo. Be sure to watch the sunrise and sunset from one of these incredible temples.
Besides visiting Angkor, do not forget to take a walk through Siem Reap. It is a fairly small town but it has a very good atmosphere, especially at night.
Although the city of Sihanoukville does not have any tourist attractions, it is the place where all speedboats to Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem depart from. Here you will find the best beaches in Cambodia. If you are going to visit different places in Cambodia, you must add these islands to yout itinerary.
Both islands are undeveloped. They are perfect to relax and disconnect for a few days. Some of the best beaches on Koh Rong are 4K Beach, Royal Beach and Coconut Beach. Koh Rong Sanloem is a very small island. All hotels are located on one beach. You definitely do not want to miss Lazy Beach in Koh Rong Sanloem.
