This Beach is an extension of La Grande Plage; therefore, it is also located quite close to the historic center of Biarritz. Specifically, it is situated between the legendary H\u00f4tel du Palais and the small cape on which the Biarritz Lighthouse stands<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This beach is not overcrowded with bathers or surfers, which makes it an ideal option for those seeking to watch the sunset over the ocean or take a leisurely stroll along the promenade in a more relaxed atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there is a beach that takes the top spot in popularity, it’s Grande Plage. Located next to the old town, it’s impossible to miss. Not only because of its location, but also because of its beauty! This beach stretches almost 500 meters long, making it ideal for those who want to surf, take a swim, play with the waves, sunbathe, or take a stroll if the crowds permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To maintain order during the busy summer months when Biarritz fills with people, Grande Plage is divided into sections for surfers and other water sports enthusiasts, as well as sections for bathers. However, the last time I went for a swim, I felt that the section designated for bathers was too small compared to the areas reserved for surfing\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next to this beach, there is a promenade that runs from the Casino de Biarritz to the H\u00f4tel du Palais, and I highly recommend taking a stroll along it. You’ll find several shops catering to surfers and cafes where you can have breakfast or lunch with a view of this beach and its colorful umbrellas. Towards the end, there is a green area with benches, perfect for having a picnic or taking a rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Plage du Port Vieux, the most beautiful beach in Biarritz<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Plage du Port Vieux is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and picturesque beaches in this French Basque town, thanks to its charming surroundings. It’s a very tiny beach nestled at the feet of Biarritz and embraced by small cliffs and rocks. On one side of the cliffs, there’s a designated area for jumping into the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to its more sheltered location, there are fewer currents and waves, making it ideal if you’re looking for a more peaceful swim. It’s also a great option if you’re traveling with children. However, be sure to arrive early as the beach is small and tends to get crowded quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you decide to take a dip at Plage du Port Vieux or not, don’t miss the chance to stroll around its surroundings. On one side, you’ll find the Rocher de la Vierge (Virgin’s Rock), and on the other, the Villa Belza. Behind you, there’s Villa le Go\u00e9land and some of the liveliest streets in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you walk south from Plage du Port Vieux, you’ll arrive at La C\u00f4te des Basques, probably the most beloved beach in Biarritz among surfers. In fact, in the 1950s, this place was considered the birthplace of surfing in France. Today, it remains a popular spot for surf enthusiasts, but also for those who want to enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes on the French Basque coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La C\u00f4te des Basques stretches over a kilometer in length and is a very wide beach, at least when the tide is low. When the tide rises, most of the sand gets covered by the sea, and swimming is prohibited. Nevertheless, you can still enjoy the beach from the viewpoints and the trails that lead down to it. The views are absolutely breathtaking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, this beach is perfect for watching surfers, enjoying the sunset, and heading out for dinner. In this area, you’ll find some of the best restaurants in Biarritz, such as Little Trallalla, Le CAB, Saline Ceviche Bar, or La Belloteka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plage de Marbella is located a bit further away from the center of Biarritz. Because of this, there are usually fewer tourists, although it’s quite popular among the locals. Nonetheless, it is much quieter in terms of crowds compared to the previously mentioned beaches. This beach is quite extensive and has a more wild landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The currents and waves can be quite strong, so it is recommended mainly for experienced surfers. Keep this in mind if you plan to swim as well. Access to the beach is via a set of cement stairs, and the views from the top are truly beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We conclude with the beach located furthest south in Biarritz, Plage de Milady. In my opinion, it is one of the best beaches to spend a great time by the sea, as it is spacious, has green areas, and, unlike others, the access is very easy, as there is a parking lot located right in front. There is also a pathway for strolling and a play area for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
