In the middle of the promenade, you&#8217;ll find the old casino of Hendaye, a building with architecture influenced by Arabic design. Here, you&#8217;ll find the Republic Square, the heart of this Franco-Basque town. It&#8217;s a peaceful spot, perfect for sitting on one of its terraces while enjoying a drink. In the same square, you can see the town hall and the 16th-century Church of Saint-Vincent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though the historic center is a bit far from the beaches and the more touristy area of Hendaye, if you have the time or want to learn more about the history of this little town, it&#8217;s worth a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-abbadia-castle-a-must-do-in-hendaye\">4. The castle features a neo-Gothic style and draws inspiration from medieval forts. Inside, you&#8217;ll discover decorations influenced by the scientist&#8217;s numerous travels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The building also features a former astronomical observatory and a church where Antoine d\u2019Abbadie and his wife Virginie are buried. Visiting the castle is usually done on a guided tour, during which you&#8217;ll also have the opportunity to explore the library and various rooms decorated with period furniture. During the stroll, you&#8217;ll have the opportunity to enjoy picturesque views of the sea, cliffs, and the bay. You can catch sight of the renowned twin rocks of Hendaye, observe the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flysch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flysch<\/a>, and even visit a World War II bunker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To visit it, we parked the car at the Ch\u00e2teau d&#8217;Abbadia Parking and walked for about five minutes to reach the beginning of the trail. I&#8217;m referring to Ondarraitz Beach, which stretches for a total of 3 km. Quite impressive! As you can imagine, it&#8217;s a very spacious beach, perfect for families, surfers, groups of friends&#8230; There&#8217;s enough room for everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it&#8217;s quite crowded, you can head over to the area where the twin rocks are located and you&#8217;ll likely find more space. You should note that this part of the beach is often frequented by nudists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-craft-market\">7. You&#8217;ll find it at the roundabout where Boulevard du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Leclerc and other streets meet. The market offers a variety of foods, jewelry, and other handmade products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening Hours: Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-8-explore-hendaye-on-its-tourist-train\">8. In Gu\u00e9thary, I recommend exploring its small but charming port. On the other hand, don&#8217;t miss out on all there is to see and do in Bidart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biarritz. This town is arguably one of the most famous destinations in the region, and there&#8217;s no shortage of reasons why.
