To make the most of the day and, in addition, enjoy the place with fewer people, my recommendation is to start with the amazing Nerja Cave. Spanning 4,823 meters, it is one of the most extensive and topographically complex caves in Andalucia<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a natural wonder full of spectacular formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. In fact, in the Hall of the Cataclysm, there is a column 32 meters high and 18 meters in diameter at its base that was a Guinness record holder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1961, the Nerja Cave was declared a National Historic and Artistic Monument, and in 2006 it was listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest. Touring it is a journey into the interior of the earth. You will not cease to be amazed by the force of nature and its ability to generate shapes and structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, if you travel in the warmer months, a swim in this beach feels great. However, I recommend going down to this beach regardless of the season. To do so, there is a very nice ramp that leaves from one of the sides of the Plaza Balcon de Europa. Once down, take a walk around the area and enjoy the wonderful surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Salvador Church is the most important church to see in Nerja and is located in a strategic point of the town. It is a white church dating from the late seventeenth century, completed in 1697. Its current appearance belongs to its last remodeling in 1997, which maintained and respected its authentic baroque academicist style, very present in its bell tower of 1724.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside houses a mural dedicated to the Incarnation by Francisco Hernandez as well as the Bronze Christ by Aurelio Teno. In fact, this temple is also special because it is one of the few in Spain with representation of the three Archangels (San Miguel is the patron saint of Nerja).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. The Plaza de Espa\u00f1a and the Museum of Nerja<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On your tour through the center of Nerja, one of the places I recommend you visit is the Plaza de Espa\u00f1a, formerly known as Plaza Paseo Nuevo. It is located just behind the Town Hall of Nerja, where the tourist office is also located. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main tourist attraction is the Museum of Nerja, where you can learn about the history and culture of this town from the Paleolithic to the 60s. The entrance to the museum costs \u20ac4, but it is free if you have the entrance to the Cave of Nerja. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Plaza de Espa\u00f1a is used for markets or special events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This iconic vessel was featured in the legendary TV series, Verano Azul<\/a>, which aired in the 1980s. For Spaniards of a certain generation, it remains a cherished memory. The longest and most popular is Burriana Beach. The section closest to the center is called Playa Carabeillo, which you can reach via Hernando de Carabeo Street, passing by the lovely Mirador del Bendito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
