My trip to Lithuania was full of surprises. I arrived in Vilnius, the capital, without expecting much. However, after spending a few days in Lithuania, I realized that the country is well worth visiting. It is quite small, which makes it very easy to go from one place to another.
I am sure that Lithuania will surprise you as well. The country has very mysterious places, such as the Colony of Crosses and the Hill of Witches. It also has very interesting natural destinations and charming cities, such as Vilnius and Kaunas. The country’s gastronomy does not disappoint either. Especially if you love potatoes!

PLACES TO VISIT IN LITHUANIA
Tips for every destination
Lithuania is a small country. However, there are a lot of very interesting places to visit in the country. The following places are cities you must visit during your trip to Lithuania: Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda. I visited all three and they all have very interesting things to offer.
Trakai Castle is located near Vilnius, one of the best places to visit in Lithuania. This medieval castle was built on an island located in the middle of Lake Galvé, which gives the place even more of a charm.
Other places that I recommend visiting are Anyksciai, Hill of Crosses and Žemaitija National Park. If you visit Lithuania in the hotter months, you can visit Palanga or Nida. Nida has a more relaxed atmosphere and Palanga a more lively one.
KAUNAS
Kaunas is one of the most beautiful cities in Lithuania. It is the second largest city in the country. The old part of town is quite wonderful. Do not forget to visit the Town Hall Square, Vilniaus Street, Liberty Avenue, the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and Kaunas Castle.
KLAIPEDA
Klaipeda is a very important port city in Lithuania. It is located at the mouth of the Nemunas River. The city has a lot of German influence, which you can see in its infrastructure. While you walk through its historic center, do not forget to visit the Theater Square and the Klaipėda Castle. A walk along the Dane River is also a must.
VILNIUS
Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, will probably be the starting point on your trip to Lithuania. Its historic center was named a World Heritage Site in 1994. You must visit the Cathedral Square, Vilnius University, the Uzupis quarter, the Gate of Dawn and the Hill of Three Crosses.
