Where to stay in Nusa Penida
Most tourist attractions and accommodations are divided between the east and west coast of the island, therefore, I recommend staying in one of these areas of Nusa Penida (or both if you have enough days in the destination).
West of Nusa Penida

The western part of Nusa Penida is the best area to stay if you’re visiting for the first time or planning a short stay (one or two nights).
To start, the west, particularly the Toyapakeh area, is home to several main ports where most boats from Bali arrive. Although there is another port on the north coast, accommodations in the west of Nusa Penida are generally more accessible than those in the east.
Additionally, many of the island’s most famous attractions are located in this region, including Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, Broken Beach, and Crystal Bay. This area also offers a wider range of dining and lodging options, catering to various budgets.
Crystal Bay is a great spot to stay, with numerous hotels nearby and proximity to the best sunset views. However, if you’d like to be better connected to the rest of the island’s attractions, consider choosing a hotel closer to the main road.
Hotels in the west of Nusa Penida
In this part of the island there are plenty of options of all kinds, from hostels with shared rooms to hotels with cool pools. Here are some suggestions for all budgets.
Agasta Villa

This hotel is great if you want to have a room with a private bathroom and air conditioning at a very good price. It also has a swimming pool, which will be great for cooling off after your visits. They offer breakfast.
Meket Bungalows

The 3-star hotel is situated in close proximity to Crystal Bay. The accommodation has a swimming pool (the sunset views from it are wonderful), hammocks, a restaurant, and a shared kitchen. They offer double and family rooms. All rooms have air conditioning.
RR Cottage

This is another excellent option for staying in Nusa Penida. The rooms are spacious and equipped with air conditioning, a television, a small refrigerator, and a hairdryer, ensuring a comfortable stay. Breakfast is offered, and guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool with hammocks, perfect for relaxing in the tropical setting.
VnS Beachfront Guesthouse

Do you want to have sea views during your stay on the island? If so, you will love this hotel since it is located in front of the beach. In addition to seeing the sea, from the hotel you will also have views of the incredible Mount Agung in Bali. Also, it is necessary to emphasize the decoration of the facilities, which are very nice. They do not offer breakfast.
NG Sweet Home

If instead of sea views, you prefer views of the jungle, this hotel is great. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need for a very comfortable stay: air conditioning, refrigerator, television, hairdryer, terrace… The best thing is, without a doubt, the swimming pool. But the best thing is undoubtedly the swimming pool; you won’t want to leave! They offer breakfast and have a restaurant where lunch and dinner are served.
Pramana Natura

We finish with an ideal hotel for those who want to indulge themselves or who are spending their honeymoon in Bali. It is a 4-star hotel built in front of the sea (imagine the views) that counts on an outer swimming pool and spa. They offer several classes of rooms, all with views to the sea. The rest of the facilities and the decoration are also charming.
East of Nusa Penida

The eastern part of Nusa Penida seems to me a very good option for those who have been to the island before and have only visited the most famous places, such as Kelingking Beach or Broken Beach, but not the tourist attractions of the eastern part (of which there are also many).
These are the most famous places to visit in this part of the island: Diamond Beach, Atuh Beach, Rumah Pohon “Tree House,” and Teletubbies Hill.
On the other hand, if you are going to spend many days in Nusa Penida, it would not be a bad option to divide your stay between a hotel in the west and another one in the east. If it is your first time on the island and you want to visit the main attractions (many of them located in the west), only staying in a hotel located in the east is not the best idea since, although it does not seem that far away, the road is not the best and it is difficult to go from one coast to the other.
Staying in the eastern part of Nusa Penida is also a great option for those who are looking for a quieter and less touristic area. Another positive point is that the landscapes and the views on this coast are incredible.
Hotels in the east of Nusa Penida
Here you have several hotels for different budgets:
Kepaon Gari Inn
This is a very good option, especially if your budget is not very high, as it is great value for money. The hotel is composed of several wooden huts, surrounded by abundant vegetation. All rooms have air conditioning and private bathrooms. But best of all is the location, as it is very close to Diamond Beach and Atuh Beach.
Batang Golden Hills

This hotel is located in the eastern part of Nusa Penida, and it offers a cozy retreat. Each room is fully equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Additionally, the property features an on-site restaurant for guests to enjoy.
Kabeh Jati Garden Villa & Restaurant

This 3-star hotel is located very close to the coast and has very attractive facilities. They offer double rooms and 25 m² triangular-shaped cottages. In addition, you can make use of the beautiful swimming pool with views, have a drink at the bar, and eat in the restaurant.
The Angkal Resort

If you prefer a more luxurious experience, this 4-star hotel is an excellent choice, especially for those seeking relaxation and tranquility on the island. The highlight? A stunning swimming pool with breathtaking sea views. The downside? It’s a bit farther from the island’s main attractions.
