Why spend your honeymoon in Bali?

One of the honeymoon travel destinations that has gained immense popularity in recent years is Bali. Apart from the island’s indisputable attractions, including its natural beauty and culture, this location is great for newlyweds for a variety of reasons. Let me explain:

  • Since it’s a relatively affordable destination, you have the opportunity to enjoy luxurious experiences at a significantly lower cost than you would in other places.
  • That is a rather exotic destination for foreigners. In actuality, the fauna, vegetation, people, food, and customs, among many other things, are completely different from what we are used to.
  • Provides plans for all types of travelers. Whether you’re looking for (relaxation, adventure, cultural immersion, nightlife, etc.), Bali has it.
  • Traveling around the island is really simple, even though it is located on another side of the world. That is because Bali is well-prepared for tourism. I promise you won’t encounter many hurdles.
  • Since it’s a popular destination for newlyweds, there are many romantic plans available, such as romantic dinners under the stars, spa getaways for two, photo sessions, etc.

Things to do on your honeymoon in Bali

If you’ve ultimately decided to spend your honeymoon in Bali, pay attention and start adding the following activities to your itinerary:

1. Balinese Wedding Ceremony

Balinese Wedding

Do you know that you can get married again according to Balinese tradition during your stay on the island? If you want to have an unforgettable experience and are interested in learning more about local culture, don’t hesitate to participate in this lovely wedding ceremony. It’s a completely symbolic wedding, thus it’s not recognized by the law.

If you’re interested, you may book your Balinese wedding right here. After being picked up at 14:00 in the afternoon, you’ll be taken to a village outside of Ubud to start the ceremony. This begins with a purification ceremony that is carried out in a sacred stream. Then, they’ll take you to a Balinese home, where they’ll dress and groom you in traditional attire.

You’ll make several offerings throughout the ceremony. After the offerings are done, you will climb onto a throne and be led in a procession to the temple. After the ritual is over, you can have a romantic meal. You will be accompanied by traditional Balinese musicians. Also, a photographer will document every moment of the ceremony.

2. Staying in on the best hotels in Bali for couples

One of the best parts about taking a romantic getaway to Bali is the abundance of great hotels for couples on the island. What could be more enjoyable for couples than enjoying their first days of marriage in a charming hotel? You can spend the night in luxurious resorts, deluxe hotels with views, private pool villas, and bamboo homes. There’s something for everyone!

I must warn you that these are not budget-friendly hotels, but this is the ideal opportunity to treat yourself, right? Continue reading for my recommendations for some of Bali’s top hotels for a romantic honeymoon stay.

3. Spend the day at a beach club

Sundays Beach Club

Going to a beach club is one of my favorite things to do in Bali, and it’s something I highly recommend you try while you’re there. There are many beach clubs scattered throughout the island, particularly in Uluwatu, Canggu, and Seminyak. As their name suggests, these clubs are built right next to the sea and frequently have a swimming pool, hammocks, a bar, and a restaurant. They are a great option if you want to unwind in a lively environment.

My favorite Bali beach club is Sunday’s Beach Club, which is located near Uluwatu. The entrance fee is 500.000 IDR, or about $30; 300.000 IDR of the fee is credit to buy food and drink. The price includes the use of snorkeling equipment, kayaks, clean towels, access to wifi, etc. You can make a VIP reservation with at least 30 days’ notice if you want a more exclusive experience.

These are some of the best beach clubs in Bali:

  • Tropical Temptation Beach Club (Melasti Beach).
  • Potato Head Beach Club (Seminyak).
  • White Rock Beach Club (Ungasan).
  • La Brisa (Canggu).
  • Oneeighty (Uluwatu).
  • Manarai Beach House (Nusa Dua).

4. Go sightseeing during your honeymoon in Bali

As you may already know, Bali has a wide range of attractions. You won’t need to worry about anything if you are traveling with an agency or if your hotel can arrange day trips on your behalf. However, if you aren’t in that situation, now is the time to organize the day trips you wish to take. You can start by visiting these 25 must-see locations in Bali.

You can see all of my recommendations regarding this topic below:

5. Enjoy a spa session with your significant other

Balinese Massage

Is there a better way to spend some time with your partner than in a spa session? I don’t thinks so! Getting a couple’s massage is one of the best things you can do when visiting Bali. There are a lot of wellness centers on the island, some of them more modest and affordable and others that are more opulent and expensive. It’s also very likely that your hotel will offer massages. If not, you can book this spa treatment near the river’s edge.

Tips to plan a trip to Bali

Nusa Islands

Many people opt to use a travel agency’s services to plan their honeymoon in Bali. But if you want to save some money, you can arrange the trip on your own, using all the information available online and how developed Bali is from a tourism standpoint.

If you wish to plan the trip on your own, I advise you to read my guide on planning a free trip to Bali (available soon). You can find information on the best time of year to travel to Bali, where to stay in Bali, how much it costs to travel to Bali, how many days you should spend in Bali, etc.

In any case, below, I’ll provide you with a few fundamental tips so you may easily prepare your honeymoon without running into any issues.

Best areas in Bali for a honeymoon trip

Bali, Indonesia, has numerous areas that are very distinct from one another. I recommend visiting as many as you can. However, if you don’t have much time, I’d say that Ubud, Uluwatu, and Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Ceningan are the best areas in Bali for a honeymoon getaway. All of these locations are beautiful and provide the necessary services for a pleasant stay on the island.

In Ubud, you can go on tours to temples, waterfalls, and rice fields in addition to learning about the local culture and Hinduism. On the other hand, places like Uluwatu or Nusa Ceningan are ideal for unwinding and enjoying the beaches. Don’t forget to read my Nusa Islands travel guide if you plan to visit Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

Affordable hotel options

I am aware that not everyone can afford the hotels I suggested in the previous section because they are quite pricey. This list, however, includes hotels in Ubud that are great for couples and don’t cost more than $100 per night.

Other couple activities in Bali

Feel like planning more couple’s activities in Bali? Here are a few more ideas. All the activities that I propose below are organized tours; therefore, you will not have to worry about planning anything. You will only have to enjoy!

Travel insurance for Bali

Finally, I wanted to emphasize how important it is to purchase the best travel insurance for your Bali adventure. If you plan to travel with an agency, they will most likely take care of getting you travel insurance. But if you plan to go independently, you will need to get a personal insurance policy.

I recommend purchasing Heymondo travel insurance for your trip to Indonesia. It’s a company I’ve been using for years, and I can provide you with a 5% discount.

Don’t forget to read my Indonesia travel guide if you plan on visiting more places in the country.

I hope this article helps you plan your honeymoon trip to Bali. If you have any questions or contributions, please don’t hesitate to email me or leave a comment. Enjoy your travels!

↠ Book free tours and guided visits on Civitatis or GetYourGuide. I always use these platforms to check what organized activities there are at my destination.

↠ To pay with card in foreign currency or withdraw money from ATMs, I always use this card (there are free and paid plans). It works the best!

↠ Traveling with travel insurance to a destination where you don’t have healthcare coverage is a must. Get your insurance 5% cheaper with this link.

↠ If you want to have cellphone data at your destination from the moment you land and don’t want to waste time, there is nothing like this eSIM. Use the code “comeamaviaja” for a 5% discount.

↠ Check out Booking’s offers, a platform I always use, as I always find very good options thanks to its search engine with filters.

↠ For destinations where I need to rent a car, I always check Discover Cars and Auto Europe search engines. I recommend them!

↠ If you still need to buy flights for your trip, there is no better search engine than Skyscanner (although I always recommend booking the flight on the company’s website).
