8 best breakfast spots in San Sebastián
It’s clear that one of the best things to do in San Sebastián is enjoy its incredible food, and not just the pintxos!
This time, I’m going to take a look at the best cafes in San Sebastián where you can enjoy a great breakfast. Choosing just one might be the hardest part!
1. Rompe Huevos

Let’s start with Rompe Huevos, a recently opened cafe right in the heart of San Sebastián. True to its name, eggs are the stars of the breakfast menu. When we sat down, we learned that most of their ingredients are locally sourced, something I really loved!
On the menu, you’ll find dishes like bacon brioche, trout brioche, eggs benedict, Spanish omelette, and Goxo French toast. When you order an egg dish, you can choose between fried or scrambled. We went for the bacon brioche, which was delicious, and also tried a special off-menu toast.
There are also lighter options like acai bowls and chia yogurt, plus plenty of pastries: croissants, pain au chocolat, carrot cake, and more. As for drinks, they serve specialty coffee, as well as matcha, herbal teas, kombucha, and more.
Address: San Martzial Kalea, 39.
🛏️ RECOMMENDED HOTELS IN SAN SEBASTIÁN If you haven’t booked accommodation in the city yet, I recommend checking out my San Sebastián accommodation guide. As for personal recommendations, I suggest this boutique hotel in the Old Town where I stayed a few years ago or this more modest hotel located in the residential Antiguo neighborhood.
2. Somos, breakfast and brunch

In the Antiguo neighborhood, the best spot for breakfast is Somos, a café that serves specialty coffee and really tasty dishes. We visited one morning during our stay in the city and really enjoyed it. Plus, it was a sunny autumn morning, and their terrace was the perfect spot to soak it in.
On the breakfast menu, you’ll find salmon toast, focaccia, Turkish eggs, mushroom toast, and avocado toast. Their bestsellers, however, are the classic eggs benedict (brioche, hollandaise sauce, slow-cooked egg, and ham) and the royal benedict (brioche, hollandaise sauce, slow-cooked egg, and salmon).

In the Gros neighborhood, you can also find Enxalao, a restaurant that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch, along with specialty coffee. Their goal is to make guests feel relaxed, cared for, and enjoy every bite.
For breakfast, you can choose from a wide variety of toasts: Iberian ham, peanut butter, hummus and avocado, avocado with poached egg, and more. If you prefer something sweet, they also offer carrot cake, croissants, acai bowls, yogurt with granola and fruit, and other treats.
