Where to eat in Gili Air
Ready to discover the best restaurants on Gili Air? Let’s get started!
1. Mama Pizza Gili Air, with sea view

We start with a classic, Mama Pizza Gili Air. This Italian restaurant located on the west coast of the island has not stopped gaining popularity over the years. Its delicious pizzas are the main reason, but being located in the best area to watch the sunset has also helped a lot. Although it has a small indoor area, most of the tables are outside, facing the sea.
In addition to pizzas, its menu offers delicious starters (burrata, focaccia, salad, etc.), various pasta dishes, and desserts (tiramisu, ice cream, etc.). The cheapest pizza costs 80,000 IDR.
We went for dinner at this restaurant on our first day on Gili Air, and the pizzas were very tasty (not the best I have ever tasted, but very tasty).
2. Warung Sunny, delicious local food

From one of the best pizzerias on the island, we went to a local restaurant that we went to a couple of times and liked very much. This is Warung Sunny, located in the center of the island. It is also a very popular place for those travelers who are looking to try the typical local food.
On the menu you will find famous Indonesian dishes, such as mie goreng or nasi goreng, but also “Lombok burritos,” as indicated on the menu. We tried the chicken burrito and another chicken dish, and both tasted great. The mango smoothie was also delicious.
On the other hand, something I found very interesting is that they offer cooking classes. It can be a very enriching thing to do on your visit to the island.
💡 During your stay on the island, don’t miss out on the best things to do in Gili Air.
3. Pituq Cafe, a vegan you must try

Whether you are vegan or not, one restaurant I recommend you try is Pituq, located on the northeast coast of the island. It is also one of the most popular places to eat in Gili Air, and, honestly, after having eaten there, I understand why.
The place is very cool; it also has a store with cute little things (you’re sure to get something), but the food is even better. We ordered some Jackfruit tacos, and they were spectacular. There were 3 tacos, but I would have eaten 20! Well, maybe I overdid it, but they were delicious.
In addition to these delicious tacos, on the menu you will find salads, curries, wraps, etc. The menu is very varied; I recommend you take a look before you go. They also offer a lot of desserts and homemade chocolate.
4. Gili Bliss Gili Air, famous for its smoothie bowls

Another spot I highly recommend for breakfast or lunch in Gili Air is Gili Bliss. This charming café is famous for its smoothie bowls, which are large and delicious. However, you can find equally good (and cheaper) smoothie bowls elsewhere on the island (I’ll mention another option below).
One thing we didn’t love was the mint they add to their smoothie bowls—it wasn’t quite to my taste. When we went back a second time, we asked them to skip the mint, and it was much better! Gili Bliss also offers a variety of toasts, burgers, salads, and more.
5. H&R Resto, food at a very good price

Another local restaurant that we really liked was H&R Resto, located in the center of the island. We went because of their very cheap prices and good reviews and came back for their smoothie bowls. They only cost 35,000 IDR (probably the cheapest I’ve eaten in Indonesia in recent years) and are very tasty.
Beyond the smoothie bowls, on their menu you will find sandwiches, burritos, burgers, salads, wraps, pasta, pad Thai, and, of course, local food. I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as we were by the value for money of this place.
💳 To withdraw rupees or pay by card, I recommend getting the N26 card. With the free version you can withdraw money with a very low commission and pay in another currency with the best exchange rate and no commissions.
6. Warung Mexicana, where to eat in Gili Air on a budget
Imagine a combination of Mexican food with Indonesian flavors. This is what you will find at Warung Mexicana, another of the best-known inexpensive local restaurants to eat in Gili Air. On their menu, you will find burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, but also typical dishes of the country, such as gado-gado, or noodle and rice dishes.
We went for dinner at Warung Mexicana on one of our nights in Gili Air, and we really liked it. The dishes are cheap, and everything was very tasty.
7. Barefoot Blondie, ideal for a good breakfast

One of the busiest places on Gili Air at breakfast time is Barefoot Blondie. If you like charming cafes, this place is a must on your itinerary around the island. For starters, the establishment is a real cutie. The main room is located on a spacious second floor where wood predominates. It has several tables and sofas where you can sit comfortably.
As for the menu, bagels, toast, smoothie bowls, sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, and other sweets stand out. For lunch, you can also choose from their salads or pokes. Ah, in the lower part of the premises there is a store that you might want to go in and take a look at.
📲 If you want to have internet, you can buy a sim card at your destination (they sell them at the airport) or, a bit more expensive but much more convenient, you can purchase a Holafly eSIM with a discount. before your trip. You can book it here un 5% more affordable with the discount code “comeamaviaja”. You will have internet from the moment you land!
8. KIOSKO Café, Spanish food on Gili Air

If you find yourself craving Spanish food during your stay in Gili Air, as I did after months away from Spain, I recommend visiting KIOSKO Café. Located in the interior of the island, this cozy spot offers a delightful taste of Spain.
Their menu features Spanish classics like patatas bravas, potato omelette, croquettes (with options like mushrooms, blue cheese, shrimp, or tuna), Andalusian gazpacho, salmorejo cordobés, Galician octopus, paella, black rice fideuá, and more. For dessert, their signature dish—and what they’re best known for—are churros.
We tried the croquettes, patatas bravas, and tortilla de patatas. The croquettes and patatas bravas were excellent. As for the tortilla de patatas, it wasn’t quite to my taste (I prefer the potatoes well-cooked and the egg a bit runny), but it wasn’t bad.
9. Italy Pizza & Cucina

If you want to eat a good pizza on Gili Air, apart from Mama Pizza, I also want to recommend this other Italian restaurant: Italy Pizza Restaurant & Bar. We went for pizza for dinner on one of our evenings on the island, and we liked it very much. The dough was not one of our favorites (it was a bit tough), but the ingredients and taste were very good.
The restaurant is located on the main street of the island (Jl. Mojo), and the decor of the place is very nice. For a moment, you will believe you are in a nice Italian town. We dined on the second floor, and it was a great choice, as there was more air and you could see the sea in the background.
Apart from delicious pizzas (which you will find for 75,000 IDR), in their menu you will also find pastas, paninis, focaccia, salads, and various desserts.
10. Pachamama Organic Cafe

We continue with another charming cafe that you can visit during your stay on this island: Pachamama Organic Cafe, located in the northeast of Gili Air. It is a place that has opted for organic and fresh products. Its menu is specially designed for vegetarians and vegans, but there are also dishes containing meat. Its decoration will make you feel very comfortable and connect with nature.
On their menu you will find breakfasts (chia pudding, scrambled eggs, yogurt and granola bowl, etc.), salads, starters (edamame, hummus, gazpacho, etc.), bowls, sandwiches, etc. We ordered the burger and the burrito. Both dishes were very tasty.
🏥 I remind you that it is very important to have travel insurance for Indonesia if you do not have medical coverage in the destination. Without adding a lot of money to your budget, you can travel with the peace of mind that if something happens to you, your expenses will be covered and you will have a team of people to help you. I always use and recommend the company Heymondo, where I can offer you a 5% discount on your next policy.
Extra: a Demonte ice cream “il gelato”

I am sure you will agree with me that a good ice cream is always a must when traveling to a hot destination. If you get a craving for haladito during your stay in Gili Air, I recommend the Demonte ice cream parlor “il gelato,” located on the main street (Jl. Mojo).
They have several flavors that will serve you in a tub or in a cone. The ball costs 35,000 IDR, which is not bad considering the amount of gelato they serve. We tried the peanut and the Oreo, and both were very tasty.
